Perhaps the 300 days of sunshine a year will help make Majorca the preferred destination for golfers and other sportspeople.
Courses with sea views, courses surrounded by beauty, courses flooded with Mediterranean charm that will make golf nothing more than a (magnificent excuse).
From MON PORT we have tried to choose the 4 courses, that we like the most and, we warn you, it has not been an easy task since Majorca has more than twenty courses and all of them have something, no matter how small, that makes them unique.
One of our weaknesses. Located in the north of Majorca, in the Port of Alcudia. Golf de Alcanada was designed by Robert Trent Jones and his son and has been active since 2003. 18 holes away from the hustle and bustle of the world. 18 holes that smell of the Mediterranean and the best island of calm.
A very wide field that, although surrounded by mountains, has privileged views of both the Bay of Alcudia and the famous lighthouse of Alcanada. The pines, the olive trees and the smell of the sea are the highlights of this course.
From the north we go to the southwest of the island, to Camp de Mar.
It will be because of its aura of complicated course or perhaps because it has the longest hole in Spain but, without a doubt, Golf Andratx is one of the most favorite courses for locals and visitors.
Inaugurated in 2000 and designed by Gleneagles Golf Development, it is an 18-hole course that is home to some of the most seasoned players in the world as it is considered the most difficult course in the Mediterranean.
Olive trees, almond trees, ponds, lakes and walls of Majorcan stone make the difficulty diluted in the beauty of the course.
In the heart of the island we find one of the most elegant course of all Majorca. Known by everyone as the Majorcan 'Augusta', Golf de Son Gual is quite a challenge for the golfer.
Opened in 2008, the 18 holes of Son Gual are owned by the Pamer family and were designed by Thomas Himmel.
The private environment, the 800 olive trees, the different waterfalls, the fauna and the vines place it in one of the best courses in Europe.
With the imposing Bendinat Castle always on the horizon, this court in the south-west of the island, embraced by an extensive wooded valley, is situated in the prestigious Bendinat estate.
Inaugurated in 1986 and, since 1995, extended to 18 holes, it is not a simple course, but a quiet one in which players will enjoy the perfect balance between beauty and nature. Please note, the views of the bay of Palma and Cabrera, can be a (great) distraction for players.
Four samples of what golf lovers can find in Majorca. A paradise in which the outdoor sport acquires another dimension.
