In the air, there are invisible highways that only a few travelers can enjoy. When the sound of any engine is absent, following these routes becomes easier, but it's only possible if you do it in the basket of a hot air balloon.
At Monport, we want to recommend experiencing this unique and awe-inspiring adventure where you can explore the landscapes of the island. The coast, the interior, the vineyards, the pine forests... though planning a route in a balloon is a bit challenging. The wind and the currents go where they want and change capriciously, so all you can do up there is enjoy... simply let yourself be carried away.
There are currently many companies in Mallorca that offer balloon flights. We recommend those that depart from the official balloon airport in Manacor, the only one approved by civil aviation.
The experience begins, if the traveler wishes, when the balloon's fabric is unfolded, and it's time to start filling it with air. Assisting in the ascent of this enormous marvel of colors is unforgettable, as is discovering that the basket, for individuals of average height, reaches below the chin, making even those afraid of heights feel secure on board.
Once the balloon is filled with air and passengers are in their places, the gentle and serene takeoff follows. The flight is very quiet, except for the bursts of hot air applied by the pilot to gain altitude. Gradually, travelers realize that it's the air current that charts the course.
Even so, when choosing a balloon flight, we can "decide," if the wind allows what type of excursion we want to make.
Whether as a couple or in a group, at dawn or dusk, over the city or over the mountains... flying in a balloon allows us to choose which air highways to follow to make the excursion perfect.
Before we know it, the flight ends. The balloon may have returned to the official airport in Manacor, or the air currents may have deposited it elsewhere on the island's plain. It lands as gently as it took off, and in the case of being far from the destination, a car will pick up the passengers who, after their baptism of flight, will receive the title of princes of the air.
