Lovely hotel

Stayed here with my wife for four nights in May. The breakfast is outstanding. We had half board and evening meals were great. Staff and service lovely and our room was huge. Nice walk down to the port and nice little town.

Yet another Lovely Stay

This is a lovely, relaxing hotel with great facilities and within walking distance of the Port with its bars and restaurants. The pool and pool bar are clean and tidy and all of the hotel staff are friendly and will assist with any requests.

Dawn Swim: The Quiet Ritual of Port d'Andratx

Dawn Swim: The Quiet Ritual of Port d'Andratx

Before the village opens its shutters, someone is already in the water. The harbourside promenade is still empty, the moored boats barely rock, and the only sound is a single stroke breaking the flat surface of the port. Anyone who rises early enough in September discovers that Port d'Andratx has an entire life that happens before the rest of the day arrives.

Who swims at dawn

Mostly they're locals — retirees with a towel over their shoulder, a fisherman who's already finished his catch before sunrise, people on their way to work — who cross paths in the same stretch of water each morning, almost always in silence.

Why September is the perfect month

The sea takes as long to cool down as it took to warm up. That thermal lag means the water around Mallorca in September still sits at around 24-25°C, almost level with August, while the air has already begun to soften and the nights feel noticeably cooler.

Where to swim at dawn in Port d'Andratx

You don't need to go far. Brismar Beach, right in the centre of the port, is small and urban, but it never feels crowded, and it offers privileged views over the whole harbour. For those who fancy a longer walk, the stretch past the Club de Vela and the Lonja building, where the day's catch is sold each afternoon, offers another angle on the port. And for those with more time, the coves nearby — Cala Llamp, Cala Moragues — already covered in our coastal walking route, are the natural choice for taking the ritual further out to sea.

After the swim

A coffee on one of the promenade terraces. A quiet spell in the spa at the hotel, where warm water continues what the sea began. Or, for something more active, Mon Sports offers kayaking and paddleboarding.
