What to see and do in Sóller and Port de Sóller
In Mallorca, there are countless essential towns and villages to visit. Sóller, along with its port, is one of them. Located on the northwest face, in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, this magical town, along with its beautiful and remarkable port, surprises you at every turn.
If you want to give a unique touch to your experience full of history, we suggest you take a ride on the iconic and centennial Sóller train that connects the capital, Palma, with this special town. From the comfort of leather seats and the magic of wooden cars that transport you to another era, you will enjoy a journey surrounded by nature. If you are lucky and visit during the first few months of the year, orange, lemon, and almond trees in bloom will accompany you on this trip.
From Monport, we give you some ideas of what to visit and what to do in Sóller and Port de Sóller.
Once you arrive at the Plaza de la Constitució, you will find the imposing Parish Church of Sant Bartomeu, next to the former building of the Bank of Sóller. Don't forget to relax on one of the terraces in the square to watch the train pass by, in the shade or soaking up the sun, while time stands still.
If you like art and history, don't forget to stop at Can Prunera, a museum with a modernist essence on Carrer de la Lluna. This street is full of beautiful private gardens that you can glimpse if you discreetly peer through open doors, wandering through the cobbled streets.
If you want to indulge in typical local products, you can immerse yourself in the daily market or visit the Fet a Sóller shop. If you decide to explore the Mercat square, don't forget to refresh yourself with an artisan ice cream at Sa Fàbrica de Gelats. The flavor highlighted by the famous oranges of Sóller is orange ice cream.
The cuisine will not disappoint you either. Here are our recommendations in the town of Sóller: Sa Granja, Cafè Sóller, Do De Pit, Can Pintxo, or Ca's Carreter. All incredibly good and authentic.
It's time to head to Port de Sóller. We suggest you do it, in this case, aboard the legendary tram that connects the mountain-surrounded town with the sea and the promenade that runs along the entire port. It is a shell-shaped fishing port that will steal your heart. From stunning sunsets at Faro Muleta to the panoramic view from the viewpoint and hermitage of Santa Catalina, which offers a spectacular view of the sea. Once there, let's not forget to visit its characteristic Maritime Museum, full of history.
If you decide to enjoy the walk that surrounds the sea of the Port, you can delight yourself with the warm sand of En Repic and Es Travès beaches and swim in their crystal-clear waters. Additionally, if you are a lover of gastronomy, here, as well as in the town, you can enjoy local cuisine based on fresh and seasonal products; don't forget to taste fresh seafood. Espíritu Libre, El Sabor, Ses Oliveres, Las Olas... Whichever restaurant you choose, it will be a guaranteed success.
We have no doubt that both Sóller and Port will enchant you.
